Culture and tradition have found a new home, with the launch of the İskele Municipality Cultural House during the annual festival of Culture and Arts.

Mayor Hasan Sadıkoğlu, Prime Minister Tufan Erhürman and local and Turkish officials cut the red ribbon last Sunday after a recital of unique Turkish Cypriot verses, or maniler, by local resident Emine Akşahin.

Women showed off skills honed at Büyükkonuk eco-days with demonstrations of straw tray and basket-weaving, fresh sesame bread made in a newly constructed traditional oven, pastry snacks and the traditional North Cyprus speciality, molehiya and lamb stew.
