Free entry event for Latin music and dance lovers

The Bedesten, one of the most historic buildings in Lefkoşa’s central Selimiye district, is set to host a Latin music concert by Estrellas Latinas de Chipre, at which dancing by the audience will be encouraged.

Lovers of Latin music and dance are invited to the free-entry event which begins at 8.30pm on Wednesday, February 21.

Starting as Latino Turco in 2001, when it was the country's only Latin music band, and then reformed as Estrellas Latinas de Chipre in 2017, musicians now include Arkın Sayar (vocals), İbrahim Çetiner (guitar), Hüsnü Doğacan (bass guitar), Tigin Aytaçoğlu (tres), Serhan Öncal (bongo/cajon), Sonero Öncal (conga), Mehmet Sakarya (flute), Ivan Lavrentev (saxophone), Ahmet Altay (trombone) and Gökhan Açıkgöz (trumpet).

The band has an extensive concert repertoire that includes salsa, bachata and cha cha along with Latin songs in Spanish, English and Turkish.

A spokesperson for the concert organisers told Cyprus Today:  “It will be an amazing night for Latin music and dance lovers when they can experience dancing to live music from a strong orchestra.”
