Faegheh Atashin (Faike Ateşin), 67, known as Googoosh, was at the peak of her fame as an international pop music and Iranian movie star when her country's 1979 revolution halted her career with its ban on female singers.
She had performed or collaborated with stars from Ray Charles and Tina Turner to Charles Aznavour and Sacha Distel, but remained in Tehran where bootleg recordings preserved her popularity.
In 2000, she left Iran for audiences totalling half a million at world tour concerts at Wembley Arena, Madison Square Gardens and venues in Toronto, Los Angeles and Stockholm, and is now based in the US.
A spokesman for promoters Heda Organisation said: "She is a very expensive star and will be playing three dates, [including] one in Armenia and one in Tbilisi, Georgia, before the finale in North Cyprus."
Googoosh performs at the Kaya resort on Thursday, September 7 and reservations may be made by phoning 0533 880 8563.
