Helm publishes 'one of the most comprehensive birding guides'

A NEW field guide for birders in Cyprus published by Helm with detailed plates twinned with concise identification text, and accurate maps from ornithologist Colin Richardson's decades-long programme of population-mapping on the island.

Birder Robin Snape said: "This is one of the most comprehensive guides for the island with excellent illustrations which was compiled with the help of Kuşkor in the North and Birdlife Cyprus in the South. The Kuşkor library will have copies for sale next month."

The 256 page book is co-authored by Richard Porter, a world authority on birds of the region and the author of Birds of the Middle East. Mr Porter has been active in the conservation of birds throughout the Ornithological Society of the Middle East region since the 1960s.
