More musicians join 'Friends' gig

A FRIENDS across Borders rock, blues and jazz festival scheduled for late September at the Soulist Coffee and Music House has already grown into a three-day event as more musicians sign up for the charity gig.

The Alsancak-based festival was started last year by German DJ Roland Eyerich and will support the Help Those with Cancer Association (Tulips) this year “because cancer, like music, has no borders”.

International and North or South Cyprus-based acts lined up so far include psy-rockers Stingray, local blues rockers Blue Tears and The Gentleman, Celtic rockers Inchequin and Nu-Soul band from Berlin Paper Thieves.

More local talent is promised from well-known reggae band Supernova, Alper Cengiz and Friends, and the more classical tones of popular cross-border mezzo-soprano Katie Economidou.
