Sapphire: The Promised Time is the debut work in the Sapphire series penned and illustrated by Turkish Cypriot painter Kemal Behçet Caymaz – dubbed the TRNC's “first fantasy fiction”.
The Turkish original was published in 2016 and has been translated by Ceren Karanar, with sponsorship from the TRNC National Education and Culture Ministry and the Department of Culture.
It will be presented at Lefkoşa's European Mediterranean Art Association's Yenişehir premises, in an event starting at 7pm and also backed by the American University of Cyprus and the Occupational Health and Safety Centre.
The epic novel is a story about a fallen kingdom in St Hilarion Castle and its prince Sapphire, who travels on a “fantasy adventure” to Paris’s Notre Dame Cathedral.
