The Merit Alsancak Yeşilova team, which played in the red group of the league, lifted the championship trophy after drawing 1-1 with Hamitköy.
The trophy was presented by Prime Minister Hüseyin Özgürgün and Cyprus Turkish Football Association (KTFF) President Hasan Sertoğlu who were flanked by Alsancak Mayor Fırat Ataser.
An open-top, double-decker bus was hired for the Yeşilova players to parade through the streets of Girne followed by a convoy of cars bearing TRNC and Yeşilova FC green and white flags.
Speaking to Cyprus Today, Mr Ataser said: “We are very honoured and proud to see our team score this success after being relegated to the first league seven years ago.
“This opens a new chapter. It has provided a lot of excitement for locals and is an inspiration to our youth by demonstrating that success can always be achieved when one works hard. We have given our team full backing at a time when it was suffering financial hardship.”
Mr Ataser said the open bus had been hired in South Cyprus, adding: “Such a vehicle, which is ideal for festivals and celebrations, does not exist in North Cyprus.”
