Duo smash record in round 2 of race

ROUND two of the North Cyprus Touring and Automobile Association-organised North Cyprus Climbing Championship ended in overall victory for driver Deniz Denner and co-driver Ömer Topçu on Sunday.

The duo, who also smashed their own track record, came first in general classification with their Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 5 by recording a time of 01:46.210.

Thirteen teams took part in the event on a 2.7km track on the road between Kaplıca and Kantara, with sponsorship from the Prime Ministry’s Anti-Drugs Commission and support from Motul, Zet and Caldini Car Care.

In second place was Doğa Koyuncu, who raced alone in his Mazda RX-7 and who finished in 01:49.101 while third were Kemal Topçuoğlu and Orçun Yırık in their Honda Civic who clocked 01:55.445 for the course.

Overall winners Denner and Topcu also came first in the E2 category, whilst the E4 category was won by Doğa Koyuncu and the E3 category saw Topçuoğlu and Yink finish first.The S2 category was headed by Cenk Toksoy and Şakir Ayalı, while victory in the S1 category went to Seyhun Bıkmaz and İldem Bıkmaz.
