First golf tournament since floods

The first golf tournament to be held since floods disrupted play at the Cyprus Mediterranean Course (CMC) took place on Sunday with the annual Niyazi Öztoprak memorial event.

Following the full handicap Stableford competition, CMC’s Brian Flanigan said: “the tournament was played on a course that was flooded by recent storms. Nevertheless, 18 holes were completed and the final result was a victory for Ian Steven with 33 points, Bob Awbery was second with 32 points and Gülay Garabli third with 32.”
