A SWIMMING tournament for children that was part of an anti-drugs campaign saw Near East University (NEU) come first in the club category by winning 133 medals..

The North Cyprus Swimming Federation “Connect to Life with Sport” event took place at the Atatürk Swimming Pool in Lefkoşa over last weekend and was attended by Prime Minister Ersin Tatar who presented awards.

The tournament was backed by the Prime Ministerial Anti-Drugs Commission and was held to mark Anti-Drigs week which is aimed at keeping young people informed about drugs and deterring them from their use.

Those receiving medals from Mr Tatar on Saturday were Paşa Sezener, Serhan Zülkadiroğlu, Doğukan Ulaç, Gökhan Karabetça, Ediz Yeşilkuşak and Özgül Çetin.

On Sunday, Near East University topped the club category, followed in second place by Ares Sports Club with 74 medals while third was Bluefin with 28 medals.
