Arsonist flees from Girne Hospital

An arsonist, who was arrested in Girne last week after living in hiding in the TRNC, has escaped police custody again.

Yılmaz Gümüş was taken to Girne State Hospital after turning ill and fled from the hospital at about 5pm today.

He was wearing a white t-shirt and dark coloured trousers, according to a police statement. Those who spot him should immediately call their nearest police station.

The fugitive arsonist was sentenced to life at London's Old Bailey in June 2005 for murdering three people in the British capital was arrested in Girne on Tuesday, May 1.

The 45-year-old was given three life sentences after his victims died in a flat he torched in Stoke Newington in October 2003
