The 18-year-old student from the Bozdoğan Anadolu lycee, for whom campaigns have been launched in many parts of Turkey, is hoping to undergo a transplant on Tuesday at the Aydın Adnan Menderes University Training and Research Hospital in western Turkey.

Its deputy chief physician Tolga Ünüvar said: “We found a matching donor in South Cyprus and our doctors will be carrying out the transfusion on Tuesday, that’s what they are planning.

“We are hopefully expecting a good result and believe we will have good news.”

Miss Çelen, who was diagnosed in 2017, had later on in the year found out that her father Yılmaz was also diagnosed with the illness which had a crushing effect on her, it was reported.
