RECOVERING cancer patient Barbara Willbye stuck to her guns and took a leap of faith on last Wednesday when she completed her first “and last” sponsored tandem paraglide

The 59-year-old, who had to delay her jump from last Friday due to inclement weather conditions, was greeted by a group of supporters at the landing site in Karaoğlanoğlu who cheered her on as she came back to earth.

Stating that she was “glad to have done it”, the Alsancak resident thanked Angela and Özgür Gökaşan of Highline Tandem Paragliding for sponsoring the paraglide and helping her feel comfortable.

“I wouldn’t have been able to cope if it had been cancelled again, as I was so nervous last Friday that I started having panic attacks,” Mrs Willbye said.

“There is only so much I can do for this great charity as I’m still receiving treatment and, as I knew I couldn’t do the Step-A-Thon, I thought about doing something else, and this was it.”
