Halil Karapaşaoğlu was fined 2,000TL on January 3 by a military court in Lefkoşa and was given 10 days to pay it, which he refused.
Police picked him up from his Köşklüçiftlik home at 11am.
In a press statement, fellow conscientious objector Murat Kanatlı said despite the will for the amendment of the military law to allow for conscientious objection to military service, Mr Karapaşaoğlu was imprisoned due to “technical crimes”.
He said the court cases of other conscientious objectors are continuing and face imprisonment if the law amendment does not go ahead.
He added that results of cases brought to the European Court of Human Rights will be against Turkey and “Turkey will be found guilty of these three cases”.
He invited the public to a protest outside of the Lefkoşa Central Prison at 5pm.
