The Deputy Prime Ministry and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today released a statement condemning the state of Israel, “which does not hesitate to use disproportionate armed force against civilians, and the USA, which has contributed to the events leading to these deaths in front of the world.”
On Tuesday, President Mustafa Akıncı strongly condemned Israel for the “brutal murder” of unarmed civilians in Gaza following the killing of more than 60 Palestinians by Israeli troops.
“I strongly condemn Israel for the brutal murder of unarmed civilians. I call on the US Administration to contribute to Israeli-Palestinian peace by moving away from an attitude which has fuelled the conflicts,” said Mr Akıncı on social media.
More than 2,200 Palestinians were injured by gunfire or tear gas in the violence, which started on Monday on the border during a protest against the opening of the new United States embassy in Jerusalem.
The TRNC Foreign Press Association also released a written statement, saying that by transferring its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, the US was “planting seeds of hatred”, and “made way for the killing of tens of unarmed Palestinian demonstrators by Israeli troops”.
