DNA study to help save Tulipa cypria

Scientists are to try to protect the rare Tulipa cypria (Medoş tulip) by collecting its DNA. Experts at the Agricultural Research Institute (TAE) say their work in collecting data on local plant life, including the tulips, is progressing and will move on to analysing the DNA this year.

The news comes as ministers and other officials tried to raise awareness about the endemic flower at annual tulip festivals in Avtepe and Tepebaşı last month.
