Emergency response teams deployed by the government are preparing for the “worst storm in years” to hit the island, expected to continue until Friday noon.

The Meteorology Department warned of storm and heavy rain to come on Thursday, especially between 12pm and 2pm.
Lefkoşa Turkish Municipality said its emergency response teams have started work. For emergency assistance, Lefkoşa residents can call the 24-hour hotline “Alo 185”, or 22 85221.

The Interior Ministry announced that emergency response teams have been formed by district offices, municipalities, the Civil Defence Headquarters and Fire Service to deal with any damage caused by the adverse weather.

Those who have seen damage to their homes by the adverse weather should contact their nearest district office to receive the necessary help by the TRNC Red Crescent.
