Spiralling exchange rates over the last week have sparked alarm that the financial woes of last summer are returning. Days of currency volatility — fuelled by USTurkey tensions and concerns over the Turkish economy in the run-up to the country’s local elections tomorrow — saw the lira lose some 6 per cent against hard currencies last Friday.
