The 72-year-old was attacked on the evening of Sunday March 3, after refusing to answer the door to her attacker, who then broke into her house, slapped her across the face and assaulted her before making off with 300TL in cash and a cashcard for which he obtained the passcode.
She contacted local police who identified a suspect from her description.
They arrested Ergün Karadağ, 28, on Monday March 4, on charges of burglary, rape and robbery. Karadağ appeared before Girne District Court on Friday and was remanded in custody for seven days.
