SIXTY-five per cent of householders have paid less for their power since new multiple-tariff biling came into force last month, the Kıb-Tek electricity authority said this week – on the eve of a change in the system of charges.
The new tariffs began on April 1, offering domestic users “cheap rate” kilowatt prices of 65 kuruş between 10pm and 7am on weekdays and 63 kuruş at weekends between midnight and 7am; “normal” weekday rates of 98 kuruş between 7am and 5pm or weekends from 10pm until midnight and 7am until 5pm; and peak charges of 1.29TL between 5pm and 10pm on weekdays or 1.27TL at the weekend.
