Last coffee morning of the season raises NCCCT funds

SOME 2,500TL was raised at the last coffee morning in aid of the North Cyprus Cancer Charity Trust (NCCCT) before its summer break.

Last coffee morning of the season raises NCCCT funds

Hosted by the Panta restaurant in Çatalköy last Thursday, an estimated 100 people soaked up the sun while enjoying homemade cakes, spring rolls and prawn toast provided by the venue along with cold and hot drinks.

Stalls selling handmade products including jams, clothes, plaques and jewellery were packed with customers. A raffle was also drawn to boost funds, with prizes including bottles of drink, meal and bookshop vouchers and a necklace.

The regular coffee mornings will resume after the summer.

“It was an absolutely brilliant morning,” said NCCCT chairman Wendy Anderson.

“The coffee mornings make an important contribution to our funds, along with our two charity shops, The Hut and The Heartbeat shop, which also bring in money to purchase medical equipment for Girne State Hospital.

“We hadn’t had a better coffee morning . . . and there was such a lovely atmosphere and so much laughter. We all had a great time and I thank our supporters who not only come to support the charity but also to enjoy themselves.”

She added: “The shops are doing amazingly well and we are over the moon with what we get from them. However, we battle to keep up with the stocks, sorting of material and dealing with the money and, of course, customers, so we welcome anyone wishing to volunteer to be part of our jolly team and help us as an extra pair of hands.”

Anyone interested in volunteering to help at either of the NCCCT shops can call Mrs Anderson on 0533 868 6078.
