The “zero-euro”commemorative banknotes, which have no face value, were officially unveiled yesterday afternoon at the Dr Fazıl Küçük Museum in Lefkoşa’s walled city.
Ten-thousand of the realistic-looking banknotes, which feature a portrait of Dr Küçük over images of Girne Castle and Girne Gate, have been printed.
The note also includes watermarks and holograms and was designed by Dutch designer Christian Petermann and printed in France, a statement said.
A portion of the souvenir notes are available to purchase in “sealed envelopes” via the museum for 50TL each. They can also be bought online at www.0eurobanknotes.eu for 8.50 euros.
