Some 100 people attended a public meeting in north London on Thursday night when Dr Erhurman made an emotional plea for Turkish Cypriots to “return to your homeland” and to “unite our potential”.

Organised by TRNC London representative Oya Tuncalı, the gathering was also attended by heads of TRNC organisations such as Turgay Deniz, of the Chamber of Commerce, Candan Avunduk of the Chamber of Industry, the Construction Contractors’ Union’s Cafer Gürcafer and the Hoteliers’ Union’s Dimağ Çağıner.
