A DRIVER who left his car in a disabled space outside Lefkoşa State Hospital was fined despite having a “blue badge” sticker on the windscreen entitling him to park there.
Ertuğrul Eltutan had taken his two disabled brothers to hospital last Friday, and was shocked to get back to his car and find the penalty notice tucked under his windscreen wiper – right next to the special badge.
An angry Mr Eltutan hit out at Lefkoşa Turkish Municipality (LTB) traffic wardens for issuing the fine, saying they should “pay attention instead to irresponsible drivers who insist on parking their cars on verges, pavements or in spaces reserved for the disabled” when they are not entitled.
Cyprus Today was unable to reach anyone at LTB for comment.
