Multi-tariff system will provide cheaper power

The move was confirmed by Hüseyin Sönmezoğlu, financial secretary of the El-Sen electricity workers’ union, who said they were finalising a system which would bring in higher rates during the daytime and cheaper power at night when consumption was presently lower.

“Switching to multi-tariffs would result in a more efficient operation of the [Teknecik] power station and cheaper electricity for the public,” he said.
