A desperate appeal went out from the North Cyprus Cancer Charity Trust (NCCCT) this week after they were forced to close their iconic Heartbeat shop at the old Girne Hospital building due to damp and insanitary conditions

The 30-year-old charity has raised £500,000 since 2010 alone for much-needed cancer treatment equipment and recently received government permission to help with a wider variety of devices including those related to heart disease.

Its Heartbeat shop underwent a “sprucing up” last year, but recent heavy rain and a bad leak from broken roof tiles forced volunteers to muck in, mop out and take sodden stock home to wash last month.
