Ssafa launched its first Big Brew Up event at Tim's Cafe

VOLUNTEERS are being sought to join a new advice and help network for ex-forces North Cyprus residents as the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA) launched its first Big Brew Up event at Tim's Café on Monday.

Some 30 ex-forces guests got together for tea and cake - with a pre-Christmas mulled wine session planned for Girne's Whisky Joe's Bar and Restaurant at the end of November.

Retired head of year teacher with special needs education experience Pam Howe said: "We can't fundraise as we are not a registered charity in TRNC but we will visit for a cup of tea and a chat, give advice and can help those in need when necessary."

She and fellow volunteers ‘Nan’ Afleck and Jane Major, a former community care dementia nurse and accounting and business expert, will go to Limasol next week for a formal SSAFA training course.
