The statement last week, covering mains water supplied to central Girne, Karaman, Edremit, Karaoğlanoğlu, Karakum, Ozanköy, Bellapais and Doğanköy, said tests had shown “no traces” of coliform bacteria, including E coli and enterococcus.
The tests had been ordered after fears that last month’s severe flooding could have contaminated mains supplies, which prompted a warning to the public to temporarily use only bottled or boiled tap water for drinking, brushing teeth, washing dishes and rinsing fruit or vegetables.
