In the broadcast, Mr Başçeri stressed that the 1974 Turkish military intervention in Cyprus was “proof of Turkey standing by Turkish Cypriot people to safeguard their existence on the island as legitimate residents”.
He added: “The same efforts will be made to achieve a just and lasting solution to the Cyprus problem. Those who think they can break the existing strong bond with our Turkish Cypriot brothers and sisters will be disappointed.”
