A gruelling 75km-run from Yedidalga to Girne, called “Wait For Me There”, took place on Sunday when 12 runners, including Ceyhun and Gülay, the parents of the late Tanyel Uzun, after whom the charity is named, put their best foot forward to complete the trail run through Güzelyurt, Lefkoşa and from Boğaz to the Girne antique harbour with a police escort.
Prime Minister Ersin Tatar welcomed the runners at the finish line and hailed their fundraising efforts.
Speaking to Cyprus Today before the event, Mr Uzun said that the 75km run would be “the most difficult race” he has ever participated in.
“I’ve never run beyond 45km, so it will be interesting and fun and this race will test my limits and stamina to the fullest,” he said.
“I just can’t wait for the toughest challenge of my life, anything I can [do] will be for our beautiful daughter Tanyel.”
