Two first-timers were among the expats and locals who gave 27 units of potentially live-saving blood at Girne State Hospital last Saturday.
Both BRS and blood bank officials said they were happy with the outcome.
BRS health and welfare secretary Julian Mawdesley expressed his gratitude to the donors and thanked Jane Griffiths, Pat Holmes and colleagues on the blood donor team or their help and support during the session.
Mr Mawdesley added that the blood bank required regular new supplies and stressed that people could also donate at times other than the BRS sessions – on weekdays at Girne State Hospital and the blood bank at Lefkoşa State Hospital between 8am and 1pm; Yeşilyurt's Cengiz Topel Hospital during the same hours; and Gazimağusa State Hospital between 9am and 2pm.
The next BRS blood donor session will be held on September 14, again in Girne, and all are welcome to volunteer. For more information, contact the BRS team on firstname.lastname@example.org.
