Murder suspect attempts suicide

Erdinç Şentürk, 22, had fled North Cyprus after Mr Apostolides, 65, went missing. He was arrested last Saturday after turning himself over to authorities in Turkey.

The victim had been spotted by CCTV cameras leaving a Girne casino with Şentürk on March 28, the last day he was seen alive.

Mr Apostolides’s battered body was discovered eight days later in woodland near Arapköy. Şentürk, a Turkish national, reportedly tried to hang himself while being held at a detention centre in the Turkish province of Yalova, media reports said.
