New RBL outdoor play promises a 'laugh a minute'

OUTDOOR theatricals at the Wild Duck Café next month promise a laugh-a-minute comedy production of The Three Musketeers by the Royal British Legion (RBL) Players with new director Ian Chennell.

New RBL outdoor play promises a 'laugh a minute'

His move from stage to director's chair helped to fill the gap left by Mark Lake, of which he said: “It is a challenge as he had it down pretty well, but I'm loving it and I'm also still laughing at the script after umpteen rehearsals, so it must be good!”
Early booking is advised, and for a pre-performance supper, as tickets remain for Wednesday and Thursday, September 6 and 7 only, with a full house already for the final Friday night performance.
Mr Chennell said: "It's a 'panto-esque' script for three players who play nine roles between them and who are on stage the entire time, so there are some rapid costume changes!"
Produced by Sue Cowley, the show stars Julia and John Bennett and Brian Coe.
Mr Coe sold the idea of using the children's adventure play area and climbing frame as a stage to Mr Chennell “on a chill November morning last year”, and it became the basis of a set.
Mr Chennell said: "Curtain goes up at sunset, 7.05pm, with new lights and rig and new engineers.
Doors open at 6pm for drinks and refreshments but a pre-performance supper must be booked in advance.”
All proceeds from ticket sales will go to the RBL's 2017 Poppy Appeal and the event is sponsored by Creditwest Bank.
Tickets are now on sale at 30TL, available from the RBL stall at the Saturday Lambousa Market or the Wild Duck Café, via email to [email protected], or by phoning Andrew Cowley on 0533 866 7563.
