A 'Billy J boost'

A CHARITY event at Alsancak’s O’live Bar has raised 3,221TL for the Cyprus Turkish Orthopedically Disabled Association.

A 'Billy J boost'

Wheelchair-bound members of the association created the highlight of the night when they joined in the dancing as Billy J Redif performed live on Friday last week.

Organised by the association in collaboration with venue owner Ercüment Ergör, the event was attended by some 120 people including regular expat and local customers.

Personal donations amounting to 600TL were added to part of the proceeds from sales of food, drink and flowers, along with money raised by a raffle, to help boost the total raised on the night.

Association chairman Günay Kibrit said: “It was a time of solidarity where we came together with members of the public, whether they were locals or expats, to spend time together having fun and making conversation.

“We received great interest from the expats who were interested in knowing more about out blue bottle cap campaign, which they promised to support.”
