The “Diversity Festival” on Thursday last week was supported by the European Commission and aimed to bring together a range of people to celebrate cultural diversity in the Turkish Cypriot community. Among those hosting information tables where traditional food was also served were the cultural associations of France and Germany, Palestinian and African students’ groups, Akova Women’s Association, East & South East Cultural Association, Tourism and Folklore Research Association (Tufad), One Worship, Turkish Cypriot Journalists’ Association, Queer Cyprus and the Universal Patient Rights Association. There was also music and dance reflecting national cultures. Opening speeches were delivered by the EU Programme Support Office’s Arttu Makipaa, Lefkoşa Mayor Mehmet Harmancı and Çiçek Göçkün Bayramoğlu of the EU Coordination Office
