'Mod-els' step out for KAR

A RECORD audience saw six “mod-els” from different countries taking to the catwalk for a glitzy show of dresses that helped to raise more than 8,300TL for Kyrenia Animal Rescue (KAR).

The six appeared under the stage names of Dawn Lauren, Jacki Dior, Vanessa Versace, Sue Vuitton, Maggie Chanel and Pammie Armani and were applauded as they exhibited dresses reflecting themes such as Ladies that Lunch and Phantom of the Opera at the annual fashion show that was staged in Ozanköy’s Bar Tropicana on Thursday last week.

Among other attractions at the event were belly dancing - and a “star” KAR rescue dog that took a stroll on the catwalk.

Speaking to Cyprus Today, KAR chairman Margaret Ray said: “It was a fantastic and very successful show that involved ladies from the KAR rescue centre and our volunteers. We learned a lot from last year’s event and added more extras to the programme this time.

“We had a record turnout, it was a complete sell-out with nearly 80 people packed in, which was the venue’s maximum number. Many of those present even had to use their own chairs.

“The fashion show has become one of our main events of the year and I am sure that we will organise it again next year.”
