The venue hosted Berlin-based Andrej Hermlin and his Swing Dance Orchestra for the occasion, with Mr Hermlin, who is known as the king of swing in Germany, playing music that was immortalised by the likes of George Gershwin, Benny Goodman, Billie Holiday and Al Jolson. Also taking the stage in period dress after travelling from Germany were Rachel and David Hermlin along with Dan Levinson.

The band usually performs with an orchestra of some 20 musicians and regularly takes part in concerts around the world.

“It was an unforgettable night that was attended by people from local and foreign communities, including expats, who were taken back in time by the music,” said a spokesperson for the venue.
