The screening on Wednesday last week took place four days after the iconic open-air, end-of-season concert in London’s Hyde Park which featured performers such as Barry Manilow, soul diva Gabrielle, solo singer Jack Savoretti and former Pretenders vocalist Chrissie Hyde. The show involved a total of some 150 musicians who appeared alongside the 60-strong BBC Concert Orchestra conducted by Richard Balcombe to play a wide range of music including classical, rock, pop, choral and theatrical.

More than 80 “promenaders”, including RBL members and their guests, watched the show on two screens set up in the garden of the Wild Duck. Meals of choice were also on offer, along with drinks.

RBL branch chairman David Horsfall thanked all those who attended or who contributed to organizing the event, saying: “It was a really good night for us, despite numbers being down this year as many of our members have returned to the UK. However, the atmosphere was great, with everyone up, singing and waving flags as we listened and watched the performances.”
