Recognised as one of the greatest Turkish players of all time, Sergen Yalçın, 44, has agreed to become football director and consultant for Ozanköy Sports Club.
Mr Yalçın has played for the Turkish national team and for each of the country’s big four clubs in a long and illustrious career.
The former midfielder was at his peak while playing for Beşiktaş and internationally, and his most recent appointment was as manager of Kayserispor, currently lying 15th in the 18-team Turkish Super League.
Ozanköy recently became champions of the TRNC's K-Pet First Division and are promoted to the K-Pet Super League.
Mr Yalçın’s forthcoming appointment was disclosed by head of the Ozanköy club Sami Otçuoğlu, who spoke to Turkish media to confirm speculative reports.
He said Mr Yalçın would also advise the club “on which three foreign football players it should eyeball” to ensure success in the Super League next season.
