Entrants in the 14th Europe Orient East-West Friendship Rally arrived last Wednesday for their last four days' action after being flagged away in Heilbronn, Germany, on May 11 before passing through Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria, Georgia, Iran and Turkey.
The event, which was won by “Team 39ers”, had taken drivers to Samsun, Turkey, for the centenary anniversary celebrations of Kemal Atatürk’s arrival there to begin the historic task of creating a modern country.
In second place was the Bavarian Hornets team while third were The Orient Ierungslos.
The Star of the Rally award was won by female motorbike entrant Birgit Schmitt and the Best Co-Driver accolade went to Marcus Smadi and was presented by chairman of the TRNC Orthopaedically Disabled People’s Association, Günay Kibrit.
