YOUNG Turkish Cypriot footballers who played and received training in TRNC clubs are now beginning to earn recognition in Turkey after joining teams like Galatasaray U21.

Goal-scoring Ahmet Sivri, 19, for example, has now been transferred to the Galatasaray U21 side following Zihni Temelci who learned his skills at the Lefkoşa-based Yenicami Academy and who was transferred to İzmir-based Super League team Göztepe U21.

Last season Mr Sivri played in the A2 League for North Cyprus club Yenicami of Lefkoşa, scoring a total of 62 goals and earning the accolade “goal king.”

Meanwhile, 1999-born Mr Temelci, also a product of Yenicami Academy, is continuing his success having been transferred to Göztepe U21 and playing against Fenerbahçe U21.
