The Duke and Duchess of Sussex presented their newborn son to the world yesterday, with the duchess declaring: “It’s magic, it’s pretty amazing. I have the two best guys in the world so I’m really happy.”
The couple were speaking in St George’s Hall at Windsor Castle as the duke held their son, who, wrapped in a white blanket and wearing a white cap, succeeded in sleeping through the whole of his first public appearance.
Meghan said: “He has the sweetest temperament, he’s really calm,” prompting Harry to joke: “I don’t know who he gets that from.” She added: “He has just been the dream, so it has been a special couple of days.”
The couple are believed to have taken their baby, who they later revealed they had named Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, to meet the Queen at Windsor Castle immediately after the photocall. Harry and Meghan brimmed with happiness as they both gazed adoringly at their child, and Meghan repeatedly stroked Archie as Harry spoke.
