Two parked cars were also damaged when he began hurling rocks at the shop front.

Customers were in the premises when the attacks took place at around 6pm, according to Kıbrıs, the Turkish-language sister newspaper of Cyprus Today.

When the man ran out of ammunition, horrified onlookers restrained him until police arrived.

Security camera footage was said to show the man threatening “to kill” Tim’s Café and Bar co-owner Ayşen Sami.

Police, who are still investigating, arrested a man whom they named as 46-year-old Oktay Şölen.
