Bozkurt sets out vision for greener, better-connected Famagusta
Speaking at the gathering on Saturday, Bozkurt said the projects, developed with specialist teams, formed part of a wider vision for Famagusta’s future. The presentation covered improvements to public spaces and social amenities, closer links between the city and its coastline, and the introduction of smart municipal services.

Bozkurt said addressing needs across different neighbourhoods required coordinated planning and clear priorities, with the aim of improving quality of life throughout the city.
“We want to create a more organised, vibrant and liveable Famagusta, where people enjoy their streets, parks, coastline and social spaces,” he said. “We look at this city as a whole.”

Developing coastal walking routes, improving access to the waterfront, expanding green spaces and creating new places for residents to meet and spend time were among the priorities outlined.
Residents and other participants were invited to share their views following the presentation. Bozkurt said feedback would help shape the proposals as they developed, stressing that public participation would be central to his approach to municipal government.

Lasting improvements, he added, would depend on bringing together the right team, specialist knowledge and effective coordination, alongside consultation with the community.
The proposals are due to be presented to the wider public at a larger campaign launch in the coming period.
