Turkcell sets out digital transformation plans ahead of 5G rollout

The company brought employees together for its “Kuzey Kıbrıs Turkcell 5.0” event, presenting the findings of an assessment of its digital capabilities and setting out priorities for the next stage of its development.

The initiative takes its name from the forthcoming 5G rollout, but the company said its transformation programme also covers leadership, workplace culture, staff development and working practices.

General manager Murat Küçüközdemir said changing technology and customer expectations required the company to develop how it operates as well as the services it provides.

“We do not see digital transformation simply as using new technologies,” he said. “For us, the real transformation takes place in how we think, our working culture and our approach to working together.”

He said employees’ knowledge, efforts and ability to work towards shared goals had underpinned the company’s achievements, adding that the programme aimed to build on those strengths.

During the event, İnan Acılıoğlu and the company’s human resources and procurement group manager, Serhat Gezgin, presented the findings of the digital assessment. They outlined existing strengths, areas requiring improvement and priorities for the transformation programme.

Speakers Nazlı Özek and Akan Abdula discussed changes in the workplace, future working practices and the role of people in digital transformation. Their sessions focused on developing new skills, adapting to change and strengthening collaboration.

A leadership session featured Mr Küçüközdemir alongside deputy general managers Deniz Mungan Sonuç, Ali Gürler and Emrah Doğan, and group managers Mustafa Şencan and Serhat Gezgin.

The executives outlined changes they intended to introduce in their own leadership and working practices, stressing that progress would depend on contributions from employees across the organisation.

Mr Gezgin also presented priorities for the programme’s first 30 and 90 days, including ways for staff to contribute and how progress would be assessed.

The company said its aim was to make digital transformation part of everyday working life through staff participation, shared expertise and continuous development.
