The agreement was announced at a press conference at the centre, where officials outlined its coverage and implementation arrangements alongside the treatments available.

Romatem is a Turkish healthcare group specialising in physiotherapy and rehabilitation. Founded in Samsun in 2005, it has expanded into a network of hospitals and clinics, combining specialist care with technologies such as robotic rehabilitation to help patients improve mobility and regain independence.

Cyprus Health Tourism Council president and UBP secretary-general Ahmet Savaşan described the centre’s opening as an important step forward for rehabilitation services in North Cyprus. He thanked those who had supported the investment and confirmed that Turkish citizens would be able to access treatment through SGK coverage.

Romatem chairman Dr Köksal Holoğlu said investment in healthcare and health tourism would benefit the country, adding that the centre would serve patients from North Cyprus, Turkey and elsewhere.

He also highlighted Cyprus’s climate and natural surroundings as strengths for developing health tourism.

Presentations covered inpatient rehabilitation, neurological and orthopaedic treatment, robotic rehabilitation technology and personalised programmes delivered by a multidisciplinary team.

The press conference concluded with a tour of the centre and its facilities.
